I very much agree and relate with this post! In fact, my Substack is named Born on the Trail for this very reason. - it's a collection of the ideas and discussions I have with myself when running on trails. Since it would be hard to carry a pen and paper, I just use a voice app on my phone to record my thoughts and it gets automatically converted into text, which I can then use when I am back home.
Great perspective! I don't run with my phone often, except on longer days in the mountains (and notifications are always off for the reason you mention). This comment makes me think of another option... a small voice recorder. These would eliminate the distraction problem, while still letting you capture a thought. Not too expensive, either!
Now to look up amazon, I guess! IDK if there's been a market for voice recorders/dictaphones in India - we just jumped over the dictaphone era directly to the cellphone era, I think

Good article!
Thank you for reading!
Enjoy your break, read you soon!
It was a good break. Back at it now. Thanks for being here!
By Personal Experience, I know many of these tactics you suggest work.
I would however, completely avoid the Phone or digital device for "remember this great idea" note-taking unless it is down via Voicing it.
Phones are huge distraction devices their notifications and alerts are meant to distract us. And will poof the idea faster than phones are unlocked.

This is great! Going to try some of those tactics.
Glad it helped! Thank you for reading.
LOVE the visualization of putting it my pocket. Definitely going to be using that one in the future... Also love the Big Magic reference. SO GOOD.
I keep a little you in my pocket while running, too. *smooch*
Oh, you. <3
*swoon*
