Really grateful for the shout-out here. We're having a lot of fun in our little corner of the running world. Type two fun, for sure. But fun nonetheless.
Everyone knows that's the best type. Thank you for bringing these stories into the world and (as I responded to another comment here) creating for the reader, not a "market."
"If anything lacked, it was self-awareness, which, it could be argued, is overrated and under-rewarded in influencer crowds anyway." -- perfect sentence.
You nailed it. I loved both, but subscribed to HOW because (as I recall) it was more affordable on my college kid budget. PrintMag.com is still on my daily bookmarks list. Heller and crew continue to drop thoughtful design content.
Me, too. I'm a magazine lover from way back. Used to keep stacks of them under the bed to fall asleep to. What I love about now is the cozier vibe. My new favorites feel written for readers, not "markets." There's a big difference.
You can really tell when something is written for the runner (reader). I've also been looking for and picking up some of the smaller produced zines that have been popping up.
What a fun read! Thanks for sharing heaps of inspiration in the midst of... *looks around* everything. 🤪

Thanks for the book shout out!
Thanks for writing it! A nightstand staple.

I'm just jealous of the attention.
Thanks for this. I‘ll let the internet be the internet for a couple of days and focus on the real fun in running. It’s out there. I know it.
"Marketing ruins everything." ~me, a marketing guy

"When I graduated from design school, print was the cool job to get."
And PRINT was the cool magazine to read; and then HOW came along
PRINT was Rolling Stone; HOW was SPIN (or maybe Circus/Hit Parader and CREEM?)

Seeing a resurgence in print media has made me incredibly happy too. Hoping it continues to stick!
